Twine Flowers for Maddy

I'm back with a very quick card, well sort of.. I was going to post last night but got involved with watching the television. We had a change in the leader of our country last night due to a ballot within the Labor Party. The elected Prime Minister who was overthrown three years ago was voted back in by the same Members - go figure. Our first female PM resigned last night and a newly elected PM was sworn in today... just in time for our up coming elections!
This card was inspired by the sketch on CAS(E) this Sketch and the colours of the current Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger - Scene in Tangerine. I'm also submitting this card to Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes challenge and I'm also sending this card to Maddy. Thanks for dropping by!

This is the first of many graduation cards that I have to make over the next few months. I used my favourite collection of the month - Fancy Pants Park Bench for this card. I'm submitting this card to The Twinery's Twine Madness challenge, CASology Yellow challenge, A Blog Named Hero's It's a Man's Man's Man's World challenge and Red Carpet Studio's The Graduate Card challenge. Thanks for dropping by, I really appreciate all your comments!

Ombre Card

I tend to struggle when there is an 'Ombre' challenge. After watching Nicole's video on Papertrey Ink's 'Make it Monday', I decided to give it a go. I don't have a lot of PTI stamps and after going through the stamp sets I do have, I decided to use the flourish stamp on the Big and Bold Wishes. I also don't have many PTI inks and decided to use my Hero Arts inks instead. Here's my card and I'm also linking it up to The Twinery's Twine Madness challenge and A Blog Named Hero's It's a Man's Man's Man's World challenge!. Thanks for dropping by!

Cardstock - Neenah Solar White and Desert Storm
Stamps - PTI Folk Art and Big Bold Wishes

Emboss Scramble

I was up very early morning today for the Hero Arts Flickr group 90 minute scramble. This is my first one for this year as I have not been available the last few scrambles. It's actually fun, a task is set at the start of the scramble and you have 90 minutes to complete and upload the card to the Flickr group. Well, I was not going to participate as I was given a ticket to the Food and Wine Festival's Italian Masterclass with Stefano De Pieri (a well known restauranteur) and Kathleen Quealy (a Boutique winemaker). I had to leave home 60 minutes into the scramble. The task today was to make a card with embossing technique. I had the card done and uploaded well within 50 minutes, with 10 minutes spare to get ready to go out!! Anyway here is my card and I'm also submitting it for the following challenges:
- Moxie Fab World Card Creations Chevron
- The Twinery Chevron and Green
- Simon Says Stamp A Bit of Green
- Die Cut Diva's Anything Green
Now you know why I picked green for this card......

Ingredients:
Cardstock - Neenah Solar White, Green card stock
Stamps - Hero Arts Big Ticket CL544, Tweed Background S5654
Ink - Hero Arts Field Green, Versamark, Versamark white chalk ink
Others - White EP, The Twinery Twine (Seaweed)

MT Washi Christmas

Back with a couple of really easy cards made with MT Washi tape. The first card was inspired by Kristina Werner's Holiday Card Series 2012 - Card 2. Details on how to make the card are on her website. I kept mine simple by just using a plain white card matted with a Green cardstock. The sentiment is from Darkroom Door. The second card was made by die cutting washi tape on cardboard. I made curved mountainsides with Basic Grey Aspen Frost. The first layer was directly adhered to the card, the second layer, along with trees were mounted on foam. No need to embellish this card as I wanted to leave it CAS. These cards were made for Paperpoint's (my favourite paper store) MT Washi Tape Contest contest on Facebook. The second card will be submitted to Hero Arts October Challenge Holiday Cards  and A Blog Named Hero's Clean Up Your Act. Thanks for dropping by!

Retro Flowers

Happy World Card Making Day! My day started off very well with an email from Paper Crafts Magazine, one of my submissions was accepted for Card Creations magazine (March 2013), this card cannot be published until the magazine comes out. Yay! I was so excited as this is my first paid publication call! To share the excitement, I had to make a card for WCMD! This card is based on the colours of CR84FN64 (Lt blue, yellow, green), the Retro sketch and the photo inspiration from Runway Inspired's Richard Chai Love Spring photo. I've been wanting to try stamping with the back of the cling stamps, so I pulled out the Sweet Threads stamp set and starting stamping away. Note to self - this technique does not work well if the images are not symmetrical! Anyway, I decided to go ahead with it anyway, I'm pleased with the results. What do you think? Thanks for dropping by!

Orange Flowers

Really wet in Melbourne today. We have a public holiday in remembrance for the ANZAC soldiers. Good to be at home today. I have been deliberating for a while about making a window card for A Blog Named Hero, and I finally came upon a sketch which would be perfect for this challenge. I also used the colours of the Runway Inspired challenge! This week's Simon Says Stamp challenge is 'Anything Goes' - a perfect card to add to another challenge!
I decided to go for an all white background on a bright orange card. My first card did not quite work out as it was more yellow than bright orange. I re-did it last night using Distress Ink Ripe Persimon and it was the perfect colour to match the challenge. The grey chevron patterned paper was from the Simon Says Stamp April kit and the sentiment is from Hero Arts.

Stamps - Hero Arts Four Flowers, Be Happy
Paper - Simon Says Stamp April kit
Inks - Tim Holtz Distress Ink Ripe Persimon, Ranger Archival Jet Black

Washi Tape!

I was so excited when my sister came back from a work trip in Japan. While she was there (I normally do not like to get people to buy things for me when overseas), I'd asked if she can get me some Washi tape. She initially did not know what it was until I explained to her. Lo and behold she came back with $80 (AUD) worth of tapes and declared that I can only have half and that we should swap them after a little while. Here is my stash and could not wait to play with them, especially after seeing Kristina Werner's card today using Washi tape. I knew exactly which challenges I should do this card.

I used Retro Sketch #6 (love this CAS sketch) and the colours of the Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger - Three Little Birds. Problem is that I do not have any bird stamps, so the good old MFT Butterfly dies will have to do with my new Washi tape. The sentiment is from Hero Arts (Be Happy CL606) and the twine is from The Twinery and the gem is from Hero Hues. Thank you to my sister for hunting down Washi tape in Japan for me (she kept the pretty butterfly tape...will have to wait for the swap). Thanks for looking!

Easter weekend cards

Ah, so nice to have a nice long weekend at Easter. Even though we had a pretty busy weekend catching up with family and friends, I managed to squeeze in some time to make some cards. I came across a very interesting blog page about Runway inspired cards and was keen to participate in the current challenge.
I used a white card as a background and a cream coloured card as a mat (although my photo may not show up the colours correctly). The paper is from Kaisercraft Sweet Nothings and it is so pretty I wanted to show off as much as I could without detracting from it. A vellum butterfly embossed in white and a sheer white ribbon with roses finished off the card nicely. There was no room for a sentiment as I can use this for a birthday or wedding card. I am also entering this card into 'A Blog Named Hero' first challenge using my favouring HA butterfly stamp from Antique Flowers and Butterflies set. Voila!

The inspiration for the card comes from this runway photo:
The second card I had time to make today was inspired by Sweet Sunday Sketch 156:

I used Bo Bunny Gabrielle collection to piece together this card. I also used another one of my favourite HA dogwood stamp, a card I made with this stamp has been submitted for publishing in the Australian Cardmaking, Stamping and Papercraft magazine. I also used my new Martha Stewart acquisition from the Paperific Expo in both cards and topped off with some gems from Hero Hues. This card will be submitted in A Blog Name Hero - favourite HA stamp challenge and the Sweet Sunday Sketch 156 challenge. Again, I did not add a sentiment as the whole card seems too busy for one. This will be added inside the card. I am also entering both cards into the Simon Says Stamp - My Favourite Tool challenge, which is of course the good old Sizzix Big Shot, used for both cards.
