CASE Study - Kathy Racoosin2

After having such fun last week with CASE Study Challenge, I had to join in with Challenge 157 this week. At the last Craft Show I attended, one of my last purchases before I left was a packet of chevron ribbon in three colours. When I saw Kathy Racoosin's CASE card, I was very happy I picked the right colour! I'm also entering this card to Moxie Fab World's In Transition challenge and Paper Smooches Guest Designer search. Thanks for dropping by! Woohoo, two cards in one weekend!!

Notice the patterned vellum paper and the matching ribbon!

Ingredients
Neenah Solar White, PTI Super Stripes, Paper Smooches Calico, Hero Arts Butter Bar, Green Hills, Pool and Pale Tomato, Copic Markers Y06, YG06, White gel pen, Ribbon and Patterned Vellum.

Stripey Birthday Card

When I saw the Make It Monday video on PTI Capture the Moment, I wanted to try it but had to wait until the weekend until I had  a bit of time to experiment. I didn't want to do it the same way as Betsy Veldman as I thought it would be too messy with Post-It notes. I used double sided tape with pre-cut lines before I embossed. Afterwards, I just peeled off the tape layer by layer. I also used a technique shared by Jennifer McGuire for the sentiment die (3 layers of cardboard). The background stamping is done with my new PTI Super Stripes stamp set. The extra colours are added with markers and gel pens after stamping. The sentiment was originally stamped with Delicata gold pigment paint, but I had to quickly emboss this in gold as it didn't quite stand out against the stripes. I left this card unembellished as this will be a card for a male. As I used gold embossing in this card, I'm also submitting this for Moxie Fab World All that Glitters is Gold challenge, Simon Says Stamp Embossed Challenge and Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger In Transition. Thanks for dropping by!

Casing Kathy Racoosin

I was very excited when I saw this week's Case Study Challenge. The Case card is beautifully painted along with Kathy Racoosin's card. I usually don't do a lot of colouring and I have very limited Copic markers. When I finally received my prize this year from Australian Simply Cards from Cardmaker of the Year competition, I was very excited to receive a set of Ciao Copic markers. I have only used the black marker so far! So tonight I decided to give it a go after being inspired by Kathy. Here is my card made with the limited number of markers in the set. I used Kathy's white dots technique to highlight the petals. I'm submitting this to the Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger - Honouring Ombre challenge as well. Thanks for dropping by!

Ingredients
Neenah Solar white, Express Card for Copics, Momento Tuxedo Black, Hero Arts Striped Flower and It's Your Day CL661, Copics markers, POSCA marker, Kaisercraft pearls and rhinestones.

Ombre Card

I have not tried a lot of 'Ombre' card challenges in the past. One of the reasons is that I do not have different shades of coloured card stock in my stash and I cannot be bothered getting them just to do an 'Ombre' card! Anyway, when I saw the challenge on Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger this week, I wanted to give it a go. I was thinking of shading in shades of purple.. then maybe try different shades of patterned paper.. it all got too difficult again... until I found I had three perfect shades with my Core'dinations card pack (this comes with 2 of each shade in long 2.5 inch wide strips.  I was going to do this challenge with a normal sized card, but I was asked to make another A4 card for a maternity leave farewell at work. Here is my card, the inside reads 'Best Wishes, XOXO'. I'm also linking this card to Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes challenge. Thanks for dropping by!

Canson Colorline Card (black and white), Core'Dinations Distress Cardstock, Paper Smooches Reflections and Bloom dies, PTI Bold Wishes, Ranger Archival Jet Black, Pink Paislee lace, American Crafts Brads, Hemp from Hemptique.

Postcard Birthday

I've got good news to share. I recently submitted a few cards to Paper Crafts's Stamp It Techniques V2. Mind you, I had been very busy and only managed to make one sentiment card using one of the techniques I learnt from the Online Card Class Summer Camp 2. I also submitted a few other cards including the one below which were previously made for other publication calls. The sentiment card got accepted. Yay! ... for Step-Outs... I think this means that they want step-by-step instructions on how the card was made. This magazine will come out in January 2014!
For this card I used  my favourite Big Postcard stamp from Hero Arts and added my other favourite flower and butterflies stampset. I'm adding this card to Moxie Fab World Birthday card challenge, Tuesday Trigger - It's Completely Collagical and Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - Airmail. Thanks for dropping by!

This is my first ever entry for Chupa's Saturday Sketch and it happens to be her 100th sketch! As I have been following her on FB, she announced that she will be posting her sketch on Saturday night, so I decided to play along. I wanted to use the colours from Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger Scene in Tangerine, this will be my second card, the first one was blogged here. I decided to mask the card before stamping and used my PTI roses. Here is my card and thank you for dropping by!

There are already over 300 entries so far, still time to join in, just! I decided to also add this to the Moxie Fab World Mixy-Matchy Style (inspiration photo below my card) as I used papers from three different Kaisercraft collections! I'm also adding this card to Simon Says Stamp and Show Anything Goes challenge as this card has a vintage look about it. Thanks for dropping by!

Sending a hug for Maddy

I wanted to send another card for Maddy after sending one two weeks ago. Details of the Card Drive for Maddy can be found here on Simon Says Stamp. This card was inspired by Dawn's Make it Monday tutorial on Papertrey Ink this week. Although I do not have many PTI dies, I used my MFT DieNamics dies instead. The colours of my card are also loosely based on this week's Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger. By the way, have a look at who is the Moxie Fabber this week - none other than a fellow Melbournian, Jenny Martin from My Paper Epiphany! Congrats Jenny!
Another quick mention before I go. My washi tape blogs have gone viral tonight over a thread at Splitcoast Stampers! Thanks Carolyn for starting the thread!
I am also entering this card to CAS-ual Fridays CFC104-Banners and Flags challenge.

Feather Weather

When I saw this week's Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger, I knew what papers I wanted to use. I recently got the Kaisercraft Porcelain Rose collection and this is just perfect for this week's TT! I based my card on the Cardabilities Sketch #75. I didn't want to spoil the design of the card with a sentiment, so I decided not to add one. I was lucky to find a feather to add to the card - this is left over from a fascinator I made many moons ago! Thanks for dropping by!

Cardstock - Neenah Desert Storm
Paper - Kaisercraft Porcelain Rose 6x6
Stamp - Kaisercraft Porcelain Rose Stamp Set

Magical Magnolias

When I saw the Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger, I knew what to do. I've had this Hero Arts stamp for quite a while but have not made a card with it. I have experimented with it when I first got it but was not happy with the results. I used my favourite emboss resist technique for this challenge and combined it with the current Colour Q challenge and came out with a result which I'm pretty happy with. I've also sprayed the card with Perfect Pearls, although the sheen on the card does not show up in this photo. I've ordered a Nikon D5100 and it should arrive next week, so my photos will improve. Yay! I'm also submitting this card to the April Hero Arts contest and the Simon Says Stamp April Showers/Spring Flowers Challenge.
BTW, I love magnolias! My neighbour across the road has the same one as the trigger photo. We just recently planted the dwarf variety with the white flower in our front yard. We couldn't afford to get a mature tree, so we got two smaller plants, so far so good, one of them has even produced one flower!

Pastel Butterflies

Another challenge on Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger! Cath comes up with the most amazing inspiration photos which sometimes is a bit of a challenge. I've had some pastel washi tapes for a while now and have not used them much, so it was time to get them out! I also got out my MFT DieNamics butterflies, they have been poorly neglected and are at the bottom of my Dies tin! Here is my Pretty Pastels card and I am also submitting this to MFW Washi Tape challenge. As I have used stamps from Hero Arts, I'm also submitting this to A Blog Named Hero's Freestyle Challenge, Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes challenge and Die-Cut Diva's Washi Tape Challenge.
You still have until Sunday to comment on my Blogversary Blog for a chance to win a prize. Thanks for dropping by!

Pattern Play

I haven't blogged too much this month due to other commitments, one of them is submitting more cards for publication - wish me luck! When I saw this week's Moxie Fab World's Tuesday Trigger, I knew what I wanted to make. I recently purchased some PTI stamps with Jenny from My Paper Epiphany and we saved heaps in postage! It also gave us an excuse to meet up for coffee last week, it was nice to meet a fellow blogger face to face! Part of my purchase included the newly released Folk Art series.  Lining up the PTI stamps is harder to do than it seems! If someone can give me some hints on how to do this, I would love to know. Anyway here is my card, don't look too closely at my stamping! I decided to use Retro Sketch #34 for this week's challenge and also submitting to Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes challenge. Thanks for dropping by!

Sweet Dreams

I couldn't resist the Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger and had to wait until the craziness of Festive Season settled. The trigger photo beckoned me to use MME All is Bright (believe it or not, I did not use it for any Christmas cards) and BG Paper Cottage. I wanted to use the PTI Lovely layers and combine it in a sketch from Random Acts of Creativity's Sketchbook Saturday Challenge #86. My card is below and the trigger photos below that. The sentiment I used was from a new HA stamp set I just received, so I'm entering this card to the HA January contest and A Blog Named Hero's New Year New You challenge. Thanks for all the lovely comments on my previous blog!

I love the Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger - Shimmer and Shine and I just have to make something! The trigger photo inspired me to make jewel encrusted baubles. I've also used the CAS(E) sketch for this card. Thanks for dropping by. Come back again tomorrow for my post on A Blog Named Hero's Christmastravaganza.

Frame by frame

When I saw the Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger - Frame by Frame, I knew what I had to do. I clicked on the image credit and found the crochet patterns for the frames. As I am still a novice at crochet, I picked the easiest pattern and made two in front of the TV (I didn't really pay much attention to what we were watching, but hey, I was spending quality time with my DH)! Once it was done the rest of the card was put together very easily! I'm also submitting this card to Simon Says Stamp - Anything Goes challenge. Thanks for dropping by!

Happy Birthday Dad!

I have a few masculine cards to make for birthdays this month, here is one for my Father-In-Law. As with all my masculine cards, I like to not add any embellishments and let the design stand out. I was intrigued by Moxie Fab World's Tuesday Trigger (see image below my card) and selected the Basic Grey Clippings paper pad for this card. This collection is perfect for a male card and it has letters I can cut out for the card (I made this one last month for a friend at work). This was a really easy and fun card to make!

Paper - Basic Grey Clippings

A Pin Therein

I just love the Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger this week! It reminds me of days gone by when I had time to embroider, sew and quilt. My quilt that I started when I was in High School is sitting unfinished somewhere! It was a hexagon quilt! This quilt only took me about an hour to make!

Noticed the old spools I used in my photo? A colleague at work left 3 bags of cottons in the work tearoom. I went through the whole stash and pulled out all the wooden ones. I will use some of the smaller ones for a printer tray project which is on my 'To Do List'. I'm not sure where she got these spools from as I have not had a chance to talk to her as she only works weekends. I think they may be from her Grandmother's sewing cabinet. They are now in loving hands and will have another life with me! Thank you Barb!!
