Baby Lea is 100 days!

I have a non-card project to share. Friends of ours (Chinese/Japanese and Korean) invited us to celebrate their baby's 100 days celebration. In Chinese culture, we usually celebrate one month but in Korean culture they tend to celebrate 100 days. I decided to decorate some Kaisercraft wooden letters which I purchased when the baby was born.... and I finished it on the 99th day!! I painted them with a couple of coats of paint after removing the very sticky labels at the back of the letters. (Why do they use such sticky labels??) I then die cut a whole bunch of matching patterned papers (got to use up the stash) and stuck them down with a matte glue. I finished them off by adding some pearls, sequins, ribbons and stickles. I added a photo of Baby Lea - she was so good that day and let me hold her for quite a while! Thanks for dropping by!
The dies I used were from Paper Smooches and MFT DieNamics, the letters, paint and pearls are from Kaisercraft.

A Baby Card

I have a really huge baby card to share. This is a card made for a work colleague who is due in just under 5 weeks time. I'll take you through my thought processes for making this A4 card. I folded a white cardstock and also a kraft one (I thought white will go better for a baby card). I then took out the first 6x6 pad I saw which is perfect for a baby card. I then tear off various patterned papers from the pad and started to group the solid colours together and the small patterned papers together. The obvious die of choice is of course my new Paper Smooches Onesie die .... but it looks so small on a big A4 card. Then I thought I could make a whole lot of different patterned Onesies and scatter them on the card.. so I cut out about 4 different patterns and spread them on the card... still looked too small. I then got the solid patterned paper and cut out 'Baby' and grouped the onesie vertically with an alphabet on each one. Still not right. Back to square one, and I pulled out the Lil Inkers stitched squares and cut out four (they look like baby blocks). The 'Baby' got cut again on PP with adhesive at the back and layered onto 2 layers of cardstock. The result can be seen below (looked better on kraft than white card base).. And guess what? I have 3 more A4 cards to make for work colleagues leaving next week!!

Blue Teddy

I attended the Melbourne Paperific Show in last weekend and stocked up on some new stamps, inks and lovely 6x6 pads. I wanted to try enter in some more challenges. The first one is the next CR84FN51 colour challenge - Pink, Peach and Light Blue. This is definitely going to be a baby card. Now, boy or girl? I also liked the sketch on Retro Sketches and decided to combine the two challenges.

I picked out papers from MME A Happy Heart and Away We Go and I also wanted to try out the wooden spools I bought last weekend. A bit of coloured twine from The Twinery finished off the project nicely! The teddy bear die is a Sizzix Original which I purchased many years ago with my old Sizzix red handled machine. Sadly, this has been replaced recently by The Big Shot. The patterned paper were edged with Distress Ink Gathered Twigs and the Sentiment is from Kaisercraft. I think this card can be for either a baby boy or girl. What do you think?

Thank you for dropping by.... I've got another card brewing and will be making it soon...
