Thank you card

I'm still fascinated with water colours and love how Distress Inks react with water! Always magical to see it happen. This is basically a one layer design but mounted onto coloured cardstock. The background colours are Mowed Lawn, Picked Raspberry and Mermaid Lagoon. After wetting the water colour card, the diluted inks were dabbed on with a wide brush. The card was then dried and the heart painted in with the Picked Raspberry and dried again. Then I flicked some water onto the card to create the white spots (love this!), this was dried again and mounted onto the coloured card base. Some Wink of Stella was added to the card and some sequins as well to finish it off. It's not too late to add this card to the A Blog Named Hero one layer challenge! I'm also adding this to Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Anything Goes challenge. Thanks for dropping by!

Fusion and PTI Blog Hop

I was almost not going to make this card. All the elements were against me and preventing me from having a bit of craft time. I finally found a spare moment this afternoon to make this card. I've decided to use the sketch from the current Fusion Card Challenge and the colours of the January PTI Blog Hop for this card! It's Australia Day today and we are just having a wonderful relaxing time at home.
The paper is from My Minds Eyes, the dies are from PTI and Lil Inkers and the sentiment from PTI.

An old one layer technique

I'm back again for another one layer card for A Blog Named Hero One Layer challenge. I was so excited when I visited my local Officeworks recently and discovered they had Post-it notes on a wide tape! The tape brought back a technique that Jennifer McGuire shared over a year ago. I cut a strip to mask on an angle and stamped from various stamp sets and a few different colours. Just before removing the mask, I sponged with some distress ink (outwards from the mask). After removing the mask, I stamped the sentiment. To add a bit of dimension to the card, I scored two lines along the masked edges. Then I had to add some sequins of course!

PTI inspired card

It's that exciting part of the month when Papertrey Ink have new releases. Some of the DT cards and projects are truly inspirational. I was inspired to make a watercolour card after seeing a card made by Danielle Flanders. I decided to use the Scribble Circles stampset (first time it has been inked) instead of flowers. I made two, one was left plain (male recipient) and the other was embellished with sequins. I'm adding this card to the PTI Create with us challenge. Thanks for dropping by!

Danielle Flanders' card

I added another Muji container to my Craft stash and got all my sequins organised. These containers are cheap and very handy for sorting out the little things!

One Layer card with ombre stamping

I've had this Altenew stampset since before Christmas and have not had a chance to ink it up. I almost forgot that I had it until I found it in my stamp collection today. Since I've been watching some live Periscope videos from CHA a couple of days ago, I spotted this card that was at the Make and Take at Altenew and loved it! I do not have the exact same colours but the technique is almost the same. The layers of stamping are with two shades of yellow and one orange and the leaves are second generation stamping with black with the outline image in black. I have based this card on the current CAS(E) this sketch. I'm also adding this to Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Ombre challenge and A Blog Named Hero's One Layer challenge. The inks I've used are Ranger Lemon Twist, Hero Arts Butter Bar and Orange Soda.

Hero Arts Scramble

It was nice to join in on a Flickr group 90 minute scramble this morning. It's been a few months since I've been able to join in on one due to the international timing! The scramble this morning was hosted by Janet with the theme being 2016. I chose 2 images (sentiment not counted), 0 embellishment, 1 diecut and 6 colours. It was really hard to pick the 6 colours as I normally don't work with too many colours on my cards! The colours I chose were Distress Inks colours Picked Raspberry, Seedless Preserve, Mowed Lawn, Abandoned Coral, Spiced Marmalade and Tumbled Glass. The images were stamped onto water colour card and then brushed with some water. The butterfly was also done on water colour card with two colours mixed in with some water. Thanks for dropping by!

Fusion of two challenges

It's so nice to have time to make cards... (not looking forward to working full-time)! I tend to make multiples every time I'm doing a design now, as it is easier to ink up two images and then you can pick the better one to post.  For this card I've used the inspiration photo from Fusion Card Challenge and the technique from PTI Make it Monday Challenge #235 - Adding colour to the stamped image. For the flowers, I stamped with Hero Arts midtone inks and then removed some of the colour by using the Copics blender. I actually did have enough to make two cards out of it! The first one is for the Fusion challenge. Thanks for dropping by!

Muse Card 147

Back again with a fun card for Chinese New Year. I normally don't make cards for CNY but after seeing Mama Elephant's Lunar Animals release last year, I couldn't wait to ink up the stamp sets! I've based my card on the current Muse Card Challenge - Michele Ferguson, and decided to make two cards at the same time. I've stamped the chinese character for 'Fortune' upside down as this usually happens in households during CNY. The character upside down sounds like 'Fortune has arrived/is upside down in the house'. I love both the Lucky cat (although this is probably more Japanese than Chinese) and the cute monkey (Year of the Monkey this year). I'm also adding this card to Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Something New (Chinese New Year).

One Layer Card

Back with my second post today for the A Blog Named Hero Facebook team. Yes, I've volunteered again this year! I'm adding this card to the current A Blog Named Hero One Layer Challenge and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday - Something New (The Stencil). I bought this stencil as I've seen Michelle Lupton used it on a regular basis and I really like the swirly pattern. This is my first go at using the stencil... you may see more variations of this in the future!!
Oh, you want to know how I did the background?
I placed the stencil over the folded card and taped down the card and the stencil. I sponged with Distress Inks Picked Raspberry and Seedless Preserve. After lifting off the stencil, I sponged the edges of the card with more Picked Raspberry. Lastly the sentiment and dots were stamped in black. Too easy and fun to do!! Thanks for dropping by!!

Something New - A Baby!

A very CAS card for a new born baby using ME Lunar Animals, SSS Game Tiles and LF Critters Down Under. In the Chinese Lunar calendar, it is still the year of the Sheep, hence the baby lamb on the card! I'm adding this card to the CASology - Simple and the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Something New challenges. Thanks for dropping by!

First Christmas card for 2016

Ha ha... I thought I would be sick of making Christmas cards by now. For the first time last year, I made every single card - about 80 cards! I was so busy that a lot of them were not blogged! This one was made today as I was keen to do the Fusion Card Challenge. I dug out my favourite Basic Grey Aspen Frost papers and made the following card using dies from MFT and Simon Says Stamp. Thanks for dropping by! I'm ahead for next Christmas!!

I'm adding this card to Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Party!
