Christmas 2014 Wrapped

I've been MIA for the last two weeks due to a very busy period in my life. I have not had a chance to blog any cards or tags, let alone take photos of them! Here are a few of the cards that I've made during this festive season. Some of these cards were started at a recent craft retreat and all of them were quick to made. If you wish to know what products were used, please email me.
I hope everyone had a great Christmas! We hosted my family dinner on Christmas Eve for 13 people, our new table arrived just the day before! We spent Christmas Day with my partner's family and extended in-laws. A small Italian affair with only 27 people! Boxing Day Sales is a tradition with my sister and niece - we picked up some great bargains! We hosted another dinner on Saturday for 13 people at our place! I'm now glad that it is all over and I'm back at work on Monday!
Did anyone see that this card with spotlighted as one of the Top Ten in Virginia's View Challenge?

This was a special project for a child's Christmas present using Kaisercraft alphabets and PP.

A lovely gift I received from my staff made by a staff member who is a famous graffiti artist

Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking Magazine Special Thanks Blog Hop

This is a special post for a magazine that I feel rather close to. It was announced recently that the Paper Crafts and Scrapbook magazine will cease publication after January next year. It is sad to see a lot of magazines heading in this direction. You would have reached this blog post from Jennifer Cuthbertson's I'm Crafty blog. I have been inspired to create beyond my comfort zone with the submission themes for the magazine. I have also been lucky to have four of my cards accepted for publications in the last two years since I started blogging. I've made these two cards for the blog hop and below that are the cards that were published in PC&S. Thank you for dropping by and the next stop is Laura Sterckx's Making Cards is Fun. There are 212 links in this fantastic blog hop (links at the end of the post), enjoy them all!

The second card was made for a PCS publication but was not picked up. The challenge was to use multiple inks for the one card. Since I used mainly distressed inks, I'm submitting these to Virginia View's challenge #10 - All things distressed and the second one to Addicted to CAS -#33  Code word 'dots'.

My published cards on PC&S!

I would like to thank Susan Opel and her team for giving me the great opportunity to see my cards in print. Thank you for liking them in the first place!

Christmas Trees

I'm adding another Christmas card to my very small stack of cards so far! This is for a few challenges. The design is based on the current Retro Sketch #141, the inspiration is from Muse Challenge #101 (Marion Vagg) , the concept is for the Moxie Fab World Challenge - Tree-mendous Trees and since I'm using a Simon Says Stamp die, I'm adding this to the Flickr Group Challenge#6. So nice to be able combine so many challenges into the one card! The stamp set is an old one from Hero Arts and the sentiment and die is from Simon Says Stamp. Thanks for dropping by!

Watercolour Sympathy cards

I have a couple of Sympathy cards to share. As I love the watercolour trend at the moment, I find this a very easy medium to make something quick and effective. The Zig Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolour set is still on my wish list. Until then, I've been using the Distress Inks with lots of water to get the effect I'm after. I hope Santa is listening... it's the 36 colour set, the same one that Jennifer has!
Thanks for dropping by!

A little bit of metallic

Wow! It's been over 2 weeks since my last post. What have I been doing! I got caught up with doing some cards for PCS magazine submission only to find out last week that they will be shutting down! It will be a shame as I have been quite lucky getting some cards published in the past. There will be a massive blog hop on 3rd December, watch out for it! Here is a card I made recently for a friend's birthday using watercolour paper and gold embossing. I stamped the Penny Black image with Archival Coffee ink and then added Tim Holtz distress inks. The Mama Elephant sentiment was embossed with Ranger Platimum EP (my new favourite colour) and some gold sequins addd to finish off the card. I'm adding this to Virginia View's Challenge #9 - All things metallic.  Thanks for dropping by!
