Something New

Happy New Year everyone! This is my first post for 2018! I've had a very hectic Festive period and had not had much time to make any cards. This is my first card this year. I had to attend a funeral yesterday and ran out of Sympathy cards. I used the sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch #253 and got out my new Distress Oxide inks for the background inking.
I'm adding this to

Challenge me a Christmas Card with Michelle Lupton and Friends

I'm very excited to take part in Michelle Lupton's Christmas challenge this year! Michelle challenged me to make a 'Purple' Christmas card. Make sure you pop over to her blog to see what she made! Here is my interpretation of the challenge. I used the die from Concord and 9th to create a stencil and added some droplets of water and clear drops to decorate the tree. The sentiment was embossed with various embossing powders.

Thanks for dropping by!

A Large Flower Stencil

I would like to thank Michelle Lupton for giving this Hero Arts Large Flower stencil! I'm still a bit of a novice to the art of stencilling! I decided to add rainbow colours to this stencil and I really did not wanted the colours to be so strong (reminds me of batik). As I was blending to get a smooth coverage, the colours intensified. I added a spray of Perfect Pearls to give it the glittery translucent effect. I then left this to dry for a couple of days before I decided what to do with it. I decided to glue a panel of the background onto the inside of a card and the same panel was cut from the front of the card. I then cut out 3 'Happy' dies - one white and two black. The diecuts were then adhered together onto the front panel of the card and the sentiment and some sequins added. I'm adding this card to Virginia View Challenge - All About Colours. This post is for A Blog Named Hero's Facebook Fan Page.
Thanks for dropping by!

Another Card for Virginia's View Challenge

Some good news to share - my baby Kingsley card for CASE Study #186 challenge got Top 3! Yay!

I normally don't jump into a new Craft trend so easily. During our craft retreat, I got to try out a few stencils and I'm starting to embrace this new trend! When I came back, I realised I don't have many stencils at all until I went through the goodies bag Joy gave me and found a butterfly stencil in there. So here is my first inking with this stencil. After sponging with distress inks, I overstamped with Hero Arts Leafy Vines in black before removing the stencil. I added the sentiment in black, matted with a black card stock, added some accents with a gel pen and matching sequins. I'm adding this card to Virginia's View Challenge #2 Stencil.

Ingredients:
Card - Neenah Solar White, black cardstock
Stencil - Heidi Swapp
Stamp - Hero Arts CG509 Leafy Vines, CL498
Inks - Tim Holtz Tumbled Glass, Shaded Lilac and Picked Raspberry, Ranger Archival Jet Black
Others - The Twinery Twine, Sequins, white gel pen

Casing Lyndal

I've just come back from a 4 day Craft retreat with 10 other awesome crafters. One of the cards I wanted to make was the current Muse challenge. I'm also adding this card to the Winnie and Walter's Playdate No 1 challenge as the background paper goes well with the inspirational photo, the current STAMPlorations Stamps and Spring challenge and Moxie Fab World's Styling with Stencil challenge. Two of us at the retreat made cards for the Muse challenge and we were very lucky to have Lyndal, the actual Muse with us at the Retreat! We shared a lot of our craft collections on the weekend and I borrowed this stencil and the Winnie & Walter stamp set from Lyndal to make this card. Here is my card and some photos taken on the weekend.
