Hydrangea Card - Take 2

When I returned to my Craft Table, there were extra stamped images of the hydrangea on water colour paper. As I recently purchased some Zig Clean Colour water markers, I wanted to give them a trial run. I didn't pre-wet the paper. I just brushed on the two colours and then wiped over with a wet brush. I couldn't believe how easy this was! I decided to fussy cut the image. The background was a bit of trial and error. I tried sponging with distress inks first and was not happy with the result. So I got out the Ranger Texture paste instead. Oh, I was inspired by the current Runway Inspired Challenge - Monique Lhuillier and I'm also adding this to A Blog Named Hero's current challenge - As Clean and Simple as can be and last but not least, Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Anything Goes! I'm back!

Finally, after a month off from blogland... I'm back!  I was very tied up with Chinese New Year activities and visitors from interstate and overseas over the past 4 weeks. I had a little bit of spare time today and sneaked into my craft room to produce this card. I have not had a lot of time to play with my new Kuretake Gansai Tambi water colours, so I made up for it today. I embossed the AlteNew Peonies with white EP and painted the colours on. I'd also added the pearl colour over the flowers, love the sheen on it!

Stripey Birthday Card

When I saw the Make It Monday video on PTI Capture the Moment, I wanted to try it but had to wait until the weekend until I had  a bit of time to experiment. I didn't want to do it the same way as Betsy Veldman as I thought it would be too messy with Post-It notes. I used double sided tape with pre-cut lines before I embossed. Afterwards, I just peeled off the tape layer by layer. I also used a technique shared by Jennifer McGuire for the sentiment die (3 layers of cardboard). The background stamping is done with my new PTI Super Stripes stamp set. The extra colours are added with markers and gel pens after stamping. The sentiment was originally stamped with Delicata gold pigment paint, but I had to quickly emboss this in gold as it didn't quite stand out against the stripes. I left this card unembellished as this will be a card for a male. As I used gold embossing in this card, I'm also submitting this for Moxie Fab World All that Glitters is Gold challenge, Simon Says Stamp Embossed Challenge and Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger In Transition. Magical Magnolias

When I saw the Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger, I knew what to do. I've had this Hero Arts stamp for quite a while but have not made a card with it. I have experimented with it when I first got it but was not happy with the results. I used my favourite emboss resist technique for this challenge and combined it with the current Colour Q challenge and came out with a result which I'm pretty happy with. I've also sprayed the card with Perfect Pearls, although the sheen on the card does not show up in this photo. I've ordered a Nikon D5100 and it should arrive next week, so my photos will improve. Yay! I'm also submitting this card to the April Hero Arts contest and the Simon Says Stamp April Showers/Spring Flowers Challenge.
BTW, I love magnolias! My neighbour across the road has the same one as the trigger photo. We just recently planted the dwarf variety with the white flower in our front yard. We couldn't afford to get a mature tree, so we got two smaller plants, so far so good, one of them has even produced one flower!

Hero Arts Cling Challenge

Hi all, back again as I'm in a crafting mood again after a tiring week with Christmas and work. I been wanting to submit another card for 'The Classroom' Hero Arts Cling Stamp Challenge. I also want to give a new technique a try - double sponging with embossing as demonstrated by Rosemary on Our Daily Bread Designs. I love this technique and will try it again, it's not as daunting as it looks! The trick is to pick the right colours and stamps! As stipulated by The Classroom, here is my card with the HA Clings I used. I also used the Runway Inspired Challenge #26 -  Bibhu Mohapatra's photo for inspiration. A Blog Named Hero just announced their new challenge for 2013 - New Year, New You. As this is a new technique for me, it's a New Me done on New Year!

October Sketch

The creative juices are overflowing this week. This card is based on the Hero Arts October sketch with colours from the Play Date Cafe challenge. I struggled with the colours for this card and finally decided to use the Distress Inks in an embossing folder to achieve the effect I wanted. After wet embossing, the card was sprayed with Perfect Pearls before being cut into even strips for the sketch. Thanks for dropping by!

Christmas in September?

Hi All! I participated in a Hero Arts 90 minute scramble on the first 'night' of spring! The card was based on a photo for inspiration. This had me stumped for a while as I didn't know where to start. I recently purchased some Christmas stamps and the colours were light blue, green and red which were perfect colours for Christmas. I stamped my bauble and sentiment with Versamark and embossed with green glitter (my recent purchase at Paperific Expo). The bauble was then coloured with Broken China distress marker and sprayed with Perfect Pearls. This gave a really interesting dimension to the bauble (I will be making lots of baubles this way for all my Christmas cards)! I finished off the card with a bit of scoring and a pretty red ribbon and red stickles on the bauble (it was still wet when the photo was taken!). I'm submitting this card to the Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes challenge and the Moxie Fab World Gallon/Quart/Pint challenge - Gallon colour is blue, Quart colour is green and the Pint colour is red.
