60th Birthday Card(s)

I was asked to make a 60th birthday card and wanted to use the Paper Smooches digits and stripes for the current PS Sparks challenge. I ended up with two cards as I wasn't happy with the first one. Both cards are based on separate sketch challenges. I finally got hold of some heavy weight vellum and couldn't resist trying out the Simon Says Stamp banner die. Let me know which one you like….

Postcard Birthday

I've got good news to share. I recently submitted a few cards to Paper Crafts's Stamp It Techniques V2. Mind you, I had been very busy and only managed to make one sentiment card using one of the techniques I learnt from the Online Card Class Summer Camp 2. I also submitted a few other cards including the one below which were previously made for other publication calls. The sentiment card got accepted. Yay! ... for Step-Outs... I think this means that they want step-by-step instructions on how the card was made. This magazine will come out in January 2014!
For this card I used  my favourite Big Postcard stamp from Hero Arts and added my other favourite flower and butterflies stampset. I'm adding this card to Moxie Fab World Birthday card challenge, Tuesday Trigger - It's Completely Collagical and Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - Airmail. Thanks for dropping by!

I decided to add a tag to the card so that I can submit this to the Moxie Fab World Birthday Tags and Wraps challenge. I've also used the colours from Play Date Cafe and The Simon Says Stamp and Show A Little Stamping challenge this week. I also added a felt flower that I got in my Hero Arts warehouse clearance sale. Thanks for dropping by!

The ones that got rejected

Hi All! I've been MIA from the blogging world as I have been busy with my other hobby. We had invited instructors from Singapore and Malaysia to teach my team the art of Dragon Dance. We had 4 days of intensive training and I also took a few days off so that we showed off a bit of sights around Melbourne. So now, back to normal!
I have a bit of good news to share. I submitted for Kaisercraft DT call last week (emailed it at the last possible minute as I only found out about it half an hour before the deadline). I just received an email informing me that I am into Round 2! So they are sending out some papers from two yet to be released collections and I have to make 2 cards, 2 layouts (this is going to be hard!!) and a OTP project (I have one that I was gonna do one day...) So I will be a little quiet on the blogging world this month as I have 4 weeks to submit them.
Anyway, I made 6 cards for the latest Paper Crafts Paper Savvy publication call. I was very excited that one got picked! This will be my second card with PC Mag! Here are some of rejects, the others got re-submitted for another publication. Thanks for dropping by!

This first one was submitted in the Colouring Media category.

Splash of green!

I've been itching to play with this challenge ever since it was posted. Why? And I don't even like the colour green? Well what intrigued me was that Pantone announced the colour 'Green' as the colour of the year for 2013 and so Play Date Cafe decided to add it to their challenge. Why I don't like green? It was my school uniform colour! Anyway, I'm going to embrace and celebrate the Pantone Green this year to overcome my fear! Here is my card with my favourite flower from PTI coupled with Basic Grey Serenade paper! Oh, I also used my new Fiskars stamping tool for the first time (sentiment only) - took me three goes before I got it right! You have to press very hard and walk around the whole stamp. Personally, I prefer to stamp on a telephone directory and tear out the soiled pages after each use! Anyway, practice makes better!

Ingredients:
Cardstock - Neenah
Paper - Basic Grey Serenade 6x6
Stamps - Papertrey Ink Lovely Layers, Hero Arts Big Ticket
Ink - Ranger Archival Jet Black, Hero Arts Field Greens

Thanks for dropping by!
