Easter Cards 2020

Hope everyone is well. I have three Easter cards to share. I stamped all the roses a couple of weeks ago with my Misti and then fussy cut them for a rainy day. Due to still working despite the COVID-19 restrictions, I have been rather busy on my weekends off with some much needed household maintenance and cleaning. I has lucky to have a day off this week and decided to put these flowers to good use! I was inspired by Tim Holtz Facebook Live videos over the last two weekends and decided to use my distress inks and oxides to some good use! All three cards started with some texture paste background, then a mixture of distress oxides and inks and lots of water. I used water colour card stock for the first two cards and Neenah card stock for the last one. I decided to keep the last one CAS with only just a splatter of white paint. I love the different looks of all three cards! Which one do you prefer? Hope everyone is staying home to fight this dreadful virus! Stay safe!

Musing Anita Bowden

When I saw Anita Bowden's card in the current Muse Challenge, it reminded me of a technique I had not used for quite a while. I inked up random spots on the card with distress inks Scattered Straw and Abandon Coral before embossing with some flowers. I then inked up the spaces between the flowers with Peeled paint and added more embossed flowers and leaves before revealing them with the last layer of Wilted Violet and Seedless Preserve. Stencil Flowers

Blue and White Christmas

This is another set of cards I made for Christmas using distress inks and perfect pearls mist to create the sky background. I lost my texture paste and would have loved to put some white stars on the card, but never mind, I was happy with the result! I'm adding this card to Merry Monday#181- Blue and White with texture. CTS#134

A card I made for CAS(E) This Sketch #134 using masking and sponging with distress inks. Before I stamped the Hero Arts images, I decided to soften the circles by sprinkling some water on the inked areas. I just love how the inks react with water! I used a very old Hero Arts stampset CL509 Luscious Frames to finish off the design. I also wanted to enter this card for Virginia View's Challenge, so I added lots of embellishments! Wine label card 4

Another wine label card to add to my collection. I've made a series of these cards and each one is slightly different. I've made this using distress inks on water colour paper, wetting just the watercolour paper and not the wine label. Love this effect! With Sympathy

I had a whole stash of Sympathy cards made and I used up most of it last month! So it is time to start making some more. This one is for a friend whose father who passed away last week from Parkinsons Disease. I wanted to make another watercolour card as I think it is most suited for a sympathy card. It is quick and easy to make. I inked up the stamp with various distress colours, stamp onto watercolour paper and spritzed with water. I love the bleeding of the colours onto the paper! I'm linking up my second watercolour card to Virginia's View Watercolour challenge using the current Fusion Card sketch.

Playing with water

This is an experiment with distress inks and water on watercolour paper. I love the way the inks blend on the watercolour paper! The overstamping in black is a technique shown recently by Jennifer McGuire. WCMD Holiday Cheer

I'm overwhelmed with the number of giveaways and challenges for World Card Making Day. This is my first time and I am having a really great time. I made one card in the morning yesterday and was planning to make more in the afternoon when all that got changed when I had to babysit my DH's two nieces. So I got them involved in making some cards! They made 6 birthday cards for their Nonnno (birthday today), their Dad, their cousin and a friend. The 12 year old was pretty good as she thought long and hard when planning her card. I gave the 7 year old a bit of a helping hand. We had fun but I only got to make one tag with them! After they left and the roast was in the oven, I dashed into my craft room and made a Christmas card that I have been experimenting with. I wanted to use the bright colours of the Seasonal Distress Inks, and guess what? They are no longer seasonal - announcement from Ranger yesterday! I used the Specialty Stamping paper (my first attempt with Neenah cardstock did not work) and inked up the card with three colours, stamped and embossed with glitter EP then spritzed with water. I was pretty pleased with the end result!

Tag! You're It!

I'm having fun with some tags this week! I made these two tags last night using distress inks. I wanted to try the water spritzing technique on the tag to create a mottled look before stamping with my new HA Timely Bird stamp - Yes, it's the first time out of the packet! As the tag is quite pretty itself, I wanted a very plain background to show it off. I also painted parts of the tag (the rim of the clock and the flower) with Perfect Pearls. I'm not embellishing this card with pearls and gems so that it can be masculine. I'm submitting the card on the left to the current HA September challenge as I used all the challenge colours (Spiced Marmalade, Peeled Paint, Pine Needles, Seedless Preserve and HA Cup O'Joe - the names sound like an afternoon tea menu). The tag on the right is going to be submitted to the current CR84FN challenge, Denim, Tan and Brown (Scattered Straw, Tea Dye, Broken China and Chipped Sapphire). Since I have the orange distress inks out for the last card I made, I decided to do another CAS card on a cream card this time. The card was masked off and inked with Ripe Persimmon and Spiced Marmalade. The Snowflakes and Edges stamp was stamped over the background with black. I'm submitting this card to the HA September challenge - A Stamp for all seasons (so I've used a Christmas background stamp on a birthday card!) The other challenge is the Simon Says Stamp Trendy Challenge - Neon/Hexagon/Chevron. Don't get me started - I have so many ideas in my head, just don't have enough time on my hands!! Here is another CAS card I made tonight. Yes, it is Spring in Melbourne and I've made a card with Autumn leaves! I've been wanting to try out one layer stamping with masking. I recently bought some paper tape from overseas which is like sticky note pad but on a tape dispenser. It is not as sticky as washi tape. I used it to tape off the area I wanted to stamp, leaving enough white space for the card to be classified as CAS! The background was inked with Spiced Marmalade and Ripe Persimmon - don't you love Tim's creativity in naming his inks! The leaves were stamped with Seedless Preserve, Pine Needles and Gathered Twigs - the colours for the Hero Arts September challenge. I'm also submitting this card to Simply Less is More's One Layer challenge and Moxie Fab World Repetition challenge.
