Happy 21st Album

I had a very short time to make a 21st birthday guest book for my niece. I am currently on holiday in Thailand and Malaysia and Sarah's 21st is the week after we get back. A quick idea was to use some beautiful 6x6 My Mind's Eyes patterned pads. I selected two pads which had a lot of neutral backgrounds with room for signing. These were glued down to a two strips of 16cm scored cardstock - 16 x 64 cm with a 1cm overlap. The pieces were folded into a concertina with the overlap glued down. The album covers were made from two pieces of 7inch squared cardboard. They were covered with musical wrapping paper which Sarah bought from Florence for me last year. Before glueing the covers down, I attached strips of ribbons in between. These will be used to tie the album down. I decorated the cover with laser cut wooden letters painted with acrylic paint, covered with Distress Rock Candy and coloured with distress re-inkers and the embellishments were fussy cut and stamped. The rest of the card is below. I will be submitting this into Simon Says stamp - Anything But a Card challenge. Thanks for dropping by!

Tim Holtz in Brisbane!

I just returned from a wonderful crafty weekend in Brisbane (2.5 hours from Melbourne by plane). You may wonder why I travelled all the way there when Tim Holtz is also conducting workshops in Melbourne. Well, unfortunately, we will be overseas when he is in Melbourne, so I could see no better excuse to go up there and attend the Brisbane Scrapbook and Papercraft Expo on the same weekend. I travelled up to Brisbane with my friend Fran, who was interested in attending Tim's workshop too but had no one to go with her in Melbourne. We left Melbourne last Friday very early in the morning (cheaper flight) and attended the workshop in the afternoon. We decided to have lunch near the Grand Chancellor beforehand and ended up having lunch with two lovely fellow crafters - Chrissy from Brisbane and Janie (Paper T'Art) from Perth. Janie, Fran and I sat together at Tim's workshop. This blog will be long as I have lots of photos to share!

Tim Holtz!

Tim's BTS man, Mario Rossi!
All attendees at the Workshop (there were 50 in the morning and 50 in the afternoon) got an apron from Ranger and a Tim Holtz satchel (which is not available for purchase). There were also lucky door prizes given out at the end of the class. Thank you to Mario for preparing all the items needed for the the project to enable us to finish the project within 2 hours. Tim was available for about an hour after the workshop to sign autographs and take photos with every single participant. We were lucky to be part of the workshop and had Tim all to ourselves for three hours. It was impossible to get close to Tim the following two days at the Brisbane Scrapbook and Papercraft Expo! Thank you to Di and Chad from Stamp-It Australia for sponsoring Tim's visit to Australia. It was so good for me to try out some of the products used in Creative Chemistry 101 and also to be up close and personal to the Tim himself!! Thank you Tim for your inspirations!

HA June Sketches

Back again with a couple of cards I made from the current Hero Arts June sketches. It is so good to combine one of them with a challenge from A Blog Named Hero (colours challenge). The first card is pretty straight forward and easy. I made a second one with the same sketch as I wasn't too happy with the washi tapes I used for the first one. I only used one tape in this one as I wanted to feature some of the colours in the patterned papers from BG Picadilly.

The second card is a also from the HA June sketches. I spent a bit of time with this picking out the papers and then decided to add a bit of stamping, washi tape and fussy cut a flower from the BG Plumeria paper. This one will be submitted for the Embellish Collage Colour Trends challenge. Details of the two cards and the challenge details are below.
I will not be posting anything until next week as I will be going to Brisbane on Friday to attend Tim Holtz's Workshop and the Brisbane Scrapbook and Papercraft Expo on the weekend. I will write a blog when I get back. I will be posting on twitter if you want to see what I get up to. Looking forward to a crafty weekend in sunny Queensland! Thanks for dropping by!
